Question -

Find the equation of a line making an angle of 150° with the x–axis and cutting off an intercept 2 from y–axis.

Answer -

Given: A line whichmakes an angle of 150o with the x–axis and cutting off anintercept at 2

By using the formula,

The equation of a lineis y = mx + c

We know thatangle, θ = 150o

The slope of the line,m = tan θ

Where, m = tan 150o

= -1/ √3

Coordinate ofy–intercept is (0, 2)

The required equationof the line is y = mx + c

Now substitute thevalues, we get

y = -x/√3 + 2

3y – 2√3 + x = 0

x + √3y = 2√3

The equation of lineis x + √3y = 2√3
