Question -

The radii of twocircles are 8 cm and 6 cm, respectively. Find the radius of the circle havingarea equal to the sum of the areas of the two circles.

Answer -

Radius of 1st┬аcircle = 8 cm(given)

тИ┤ Area of 1st┬аcircle = ╧А(8)2┬а=64╧А

Radius of 2nd┬аcircle = 6 cm(given)

тИ┤ Area of 2nd┬аcircle = ╧А(6)2┬а=36╧А

So,

The sum of 1st┬аand 2nd┬аcirclewill be = 64╧А+36╧А = 100╧А

Now, assume that the radius of 3rd┬аcircle= R

тИ┤ Area of the circle 3rd┬аcircle = ╧АR2

It is given that the area of the circle 3rd┬аcircle= Area of 1st┬аcircle + Area of 2nd┬аcircle

Or, ╧АR2┬а= 100╧Аcm2

R2┬а= 100cm2

So, R = 10cm
