Question -

In ∆ABC, if ∠A = 100°, AD bisects ∠A and AD⊥ BC. Then, ∠B =
(a) 50°
(b) 90°
(c) 40°
(d) 100°

Answer -

In ∆ABC, ∠A = 100°
AD is bisector of ∠A and AD ⊥ BC

Now, ∠BAD == 50°
In ∆ABD,
∠BAD + ∠B + ∠D= 180°
(Sum of angles of a triangle)
⇒ ∠50° + ∠B + 90° = 180°
∠B + 140° = 180°
⇒ ∠B = 180° – 140° ∠B = 40° (c)
