Question - 21 : - Find the values of n and X in each of the following cases:

Answer - 21 : - (i)

Question - 22 : - The sums of the deviations of a set of n values x1, x2,… xn measured from 15 and -3 are -90 and 54 respectively. Find the value of n and mean.

Answer - 22 : -

In first case,
(x1 – 15) + (x2 – 15) + (x3 – 15) + … + (xn – 15) = – 90
=> x1 + x2 + x3 + … + xn – 15 x n = – 90

Question - 23 : - Find the sum of the deviations of the variate values 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 14 from their mean.

Answer - 23 : - Mean of 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 14 = 42/6 = 7

Question - 24 : - If   is the mean of the ten natural numbers x1, x2, x3, …, x10, show that (x1 –  ) + (x2 –  ) + … + (x10 – ) = 0.

Answer - 24 : -  is the mean of 10 natural numbers
