Question -
Answer -
Given:
9x + 6y – 7 = 0 and 3x+ 2y + 6 = 0 are parallel lines
The given equations ofthe lines can be written as:
3x + 2y – 7/3 =0 … (1)
3x + 2y + 6 = 0 … (2)
Let the equation ofthe line midway between the parallel lines (1) and (2) be
3x + 2y+ λ = 0 … (3)
The distance between(1) and (3) and the distance between (2) and (3) are equal.
Now substitute thevalue of λ back in equation 3x + 2y + λ = 0, we get
3x + 2y+ 11/6 = 0
By taking LCM
18x + 12y + 11 = 0
∴ The required equationof line is 18x + 12y + 11 = 0
